Pranayama is the key to attenuating the veil of avidya, the commitment we each honor to our long-cherished confusion and chosen delusion. A dedicated practice of pranayama has the power to burn through this veil, which keeps us swimming in the dark sea of ignorance. Pranayama reintroduces us to the light of Pranaśakti, which in turn, reintroduces us to our true Self.
They say the truth shall set you free. In an age when truth appears to be more and more difficult to come by, our ability to discern the real from the unreal has become increasingly imperative. Let's begin by developing the ability to discriminate one from the other inside ourselves, to attune our inner ear to the frequency of truth, and then apply that inner attunement to the outside world.
They also say, when you're going through hell, the best advice is to just keep going. The path toward truth and freedom isn't an easy downhill pleasure cruise. It will require the very best of you. This sequence of pranayama techniques, which the Himalayan Institute terms 'the Self-Mastery series,' will likely bring both considerable confrontation and delight. Prepare for both!
A developed relationship with Pranaśakti is a pre-requisite for a meaningful experience of the tantric meditation known as meditation on the Lotus of the Heart, or in our tradition, Vishoka Meditation Stage Two. This month we will further refine that relationship while simultaneously brightening our inner truth, and dissolving the layers of the mind which may be keeping us barred from our heart.
This round of WE RISE is not designed for beginners, nor for the fair-weather-friend of meditation. This round of WE RISE requires your commitment to your practice, to your community, and to yourself.
