This virtual offering, hosted livestream on Zoom, is intended to help you develop a rich and fertile foundation for the ongoing development of your relationship with meditation.
Meditation is one of the greatest gifts given to us by the human beings who lived before our time. Humans have always struggled, always suffered - so some of the wisest among our ancestors sought and discovered a reliable means for addressing and liberating ourselves from this suffering.
The means they discovered was meditation.
Meditation has become as widely misrepresented and misunderstood as yoga. There are many mindfulness modalities that have come to be known as meditation that - while they certainly have their benefits - are not actually equipped to deliver us from our suffering. Traditional yogic meditation, however, is designed to do just that.
I invite you to experience it for yourself.
As part of a system which culminates Vishoka Meditation®, the meditation of Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, we will begin by healing the disturbances in your breath. Healing these disturbances will gradually re-regulate your nervous system. Then we will engage with techniques which help the mind to become fully invested in the peaceful and joyful experience of simply breathing, and finally, use time-tested techniques to guide unified mind and breath more deeply within.
For meditation to be effective, it must be practiced with regularity. Your mind must have the opportunity to create new habits and associations of peace and clarity to replace those linked to your suffering. For this reason, 'Meditation for Beginners' will meet every day, Monday through Friday, for two weeks. This should be just enough time to notice an undeniable difference in your experience of day to day life. The practices are only thirty minutes each day and will consist of inviting concentration techniques, breath training, and a guided seated practice culminating in still, silent meditation.
